Laddoo fetches Rs 1.87 crore at Ganesh Puja auction in Telangana

A laddoo was auctioned in Telangana on Monday ahead of the culmination of the Ganpati puja festivities. The auction, which was held at Keerthi Richmond Villas, is located in Ranga Reddy district’s Bandlaguda Jagir area.
The laddoo was auctioned for a staggering Rs 1.87 crore, Rs 61 lakh up from last year’s record of Rs. 1.26 crore, which was set at the same venue. The laddoo fetched Rs 60 lakh at the auction in 2022.
A total of 100 members participated in the event. The members were divided into four teams of 25 members each and one of the teams successfully won the auction. Similar to how the proceeds of the auction were used last year, the amount would be donated to support the underprivileged.
Meanwhile, the Balapur Ganesh laddoo, which has been auctioned annually since 1994 on the last day of Ganpati celebrations, was auctioned for a record Rs. 30.1 lakh by BJP leader Kolan Shankar Reddy on Monday morning. It was sold for around Rs. 27 lakh last year.
The tradition of auctioning the Balapur Ganesh laddoo began in 1994, when a local farmer, Kolan Mohan Reddy, bought it for Rs. 450.
